Ed Sheeran Debuts A New Song About 'Sweet Mary Jane'

Last night (May 29), Ed Sheeran performed at the Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY, as part of his current North American tour. In addition to running through singles like “Thinking Out Loud” and “Photograph,” the English crooner debuted a new song that appears to be a love ballad about his drug of choice.

Backed only by his own guitar and a loop pedal, Sheeran crooned the song to “sweet Mary Jane.” Just in case you thought it was about a girl with an unfortunately suggestive name, he went on to clarify: “I’m so damn high/Have you seen my eyes?

Maybe all that edgier, hip hop influence has been rubbing off on the 24-year-old singer-songwriter. After all, he did end his set with an encore mashup of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club,” Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” and his own “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You.
